Circular's
Dear Clients,
As you are aware that the Income Tax
Department has introduced the PAN 2.0 on 25th November, 2024. It has come to
the Department's notice that Fraudsters are using this to conduct scams and
cheat the common public.
The PIB (Press Information Bureau) Fact
Check Unit under Government of India has warned about a phishing scam
targeting people under the name of a "PAN 2.0 upgrade."
- Scammers are sending fake emails and messages claiming to offer an "upgrade" to PAN cards, luring
victims with promises of faster processing, added benefits, or compliance
with "new government regulations."
- These messages often contain malicious links that, when
clicked, can steal personal information.
- The PIB Fact Check Unit has advised on not clicking the
unsolicited links or responding to messages promising PAN upgrades.
- Official PAN-related services are only provided through
authorized platforms like NSDL or UTIITSL.
